Glen Hansard – PJ20 Day 2

I’m sitting here at work, speechless, listening to Glen Hansard wow the crowd at PJ20, and realizing that I missed out in a huge way when I decided to miss his opening act for Eddie Vedder back in June. Thank goodness for bootlegs, though. His cover of Van Morrison’s Astral Weeks is wonderful, and his duet with Eddie Vedder on Falling Slowly is just gorgeous.

I took a train from California

While Adam hadn’t yet begun his trend of going on lyrical tangents during the songs, this boot does feature two fantastic unreleased songs (Open All Night and Margery) and an unbelievable cover of Van Morrison’s Caravan.

And while Ilan introduced me to Van Morrison through this bootleg (even though I introduced him to the boot itself), it’s Oh Margery which stands out on the most recent listens.

I took a train from California to the far side of the continent, woke up in Kentucky where the wedding was about to end.

Missing you so much it hurts, Ilan.

It’s one of those weird feelings; where you’ve finished an entire 20-year stretch of your life and are about to venture out into a new one. It’s exciting, weird, and scary all at the same time. Here’s a few songs about
