Music in mono

With the advent of Rosh Hashana (the Jewish New Year), our 30-day period of mourning for Gilad is cut short in preparation for the holiday. Along with cutting our hair and shaving, we can now also listen to music again.

But it’s bittersweet, especially considering Gilad’s connection to music. Here I feel like something is missing; like one of the ears of my headphones is out and I can’t seem to find a way to fix it. It’s frustrating and debilitating, because right now I know that even though eventually I may get used to hearing everything in mono, it will never be as good as it sounded when life was more complete.

Gilad, I miss you so much. These songs are for you.

Aimee Mann – Just Like Anyone

David Grady – Say Hello, Wave Goodbye
