Lil’ Wayne’s much anticipated followup to “Tha Carter III,” creatively titled “Tha Carter IV,” will be released on August 28th, but the album has leaked. I haven’t had a chance to listen to the entire thing, but here’s a few tracks to whet your appetites.

Kanye West and Jay-Z. Two of the best rappers in the game. No one can match Jay’s flow – his voice was just made for hip hop and the beats he produces and sings over are always hard hitting and provocative. Kayne, alternatively, has developed into a hilarious and brilliant lyricist, perfectly toeing the line between self aggrandizing and self deprecating. His songs, likewise, have become grand productions, with his producer skills having skyrocketed in the last few years, as he manages the perfect balance between too much and not enough.
On their first full album collaboration, their styles mesh perfectly, and they play off one another, switching off between tongue in cheek lyrics and personal ones, and half-jokingly worrying that they’ve lost their positions at the top of the rap world. Continue reading

Childish Gambino AKA Donald Glover AKA Troy from “Community” just announced via twitter that his new album will be called “Camp.” You can watch the 36 second promo video on his site, or below.
Being the first hip hop artist to be released by Jack White’s “Third Man Records” is quite an important status, considering the quality of the music that Mr. White releases through his high quality label. That said, it’s no surprise that this isn’t your standard hip hop song. With bits of funk and soul peppered in, this song should be enjoyed by listeners of every musical genre.
