The Tallest Man On Earth Covers Paul Simon

Thanks to Turntable.fm (my new obsession, and part of the reason why I haven’t posted in days), I’ve discovered a beautiful Tallest Man On Earth track where he covers Paul Simon’s Graceland. I figured I’d pair that up with another Paul Simon cover of his I had lying around for this post.

U2 – M&T Bank Stadium (6.22.11)

[Editor’s note: This guest post was written by my little brother Ezra, who attended the U2 show in Baltimore on Wednesday night. This is his second or third guest post here.]

As I was walking out of M&T Bank Stadium in downtown Baltimore Wednesday night after seeing U2, one of the most mind-blowing performances I had ever witnessed, I was at a loss for words. Just one word kept on playing through my mind: incredible. Everything about the night was simply incredible. The fantastic light show, the complex stage, the pure energy of the 75,000+ crowd. Everything was incredible. Continue reading

Girl Talk – Live in Hookaville

None of the credit here is mine – I just grabbed this bootleg from YANP and it’s really a good one. So here’s a re-post of the show for stream/download.

For those unfamiliar with GT, the boot is all in one track not because we were too lazy to break it up; rather his shows are all one endless song with thousands of never-ending samples that somehow all work well together. If you still don’t understand, just press play – you’ll get it soon enough.

Radiohead – Staircase

Also, Radiohead just dropped an advance video from their “Live From The Basement” session which will be airing on July 1. Check out the video and audio below.

Eddie Vedder on Letterman

Check out Eddie’s performance Without You on Letterman last night. And for all my friends going to the Beacon shows – enjoy.

Clarence Celmons: 1942 – 2011

It was with sadness that I turned on my computer on Saturday night to find out that Clarence Clemons had passed away. Clarence wasn’t just a saxophonist for a rock band; he was a world class musician and a talented performer and entertainer. His nickname “The Big Man,” was a reference to his size, his sound, and his overall presence.

But while we feel sadness over his death, we also feel happiness with the beauty and joy that he brought into the world with his music. So crank these songs all the way up. Let Clarence’s horn ring through, and listen to The Big Man do what he did best.

Eddie Vedder – Wang Theater, Boston (6-16-11)

For a band to command an audience is a challenging task. For one man to do that alone is even tougher. And to do that in Boston, the night after the Bruins win the Stanley Cup, using only a ukulele seems like an impossibility. Yet Eddie Vedder was able to not just command, but captivate this crowd of rowdy Bostonians using a tiny four-string instrument. Continue reading

Eddie Vedder @ The Wang Theater Tonight!

I’m itching to get out of work and head down to the Wang (teehee!) Theater for Eddie Vedder’s solo show. Though I know these shows are supposed to be quiet toned down affairs, I can’t imagine that will be the case in a Boston that just won the Stanley Cup for the first time in 39 years. The place is going to be nuts. Can’t wait.

Pearl Jam – Throw Your Arms Around Me

Wilco – Sasquatch 2011

Wilco is awesome. Jeff Tweedy is amazing. This bootleg is really incredible, and it makes me wish I had gone to Sasquatch this year. Also, I have no idea why I’ve never seen this band live. I guess I’ll just have to use this bootleg to tide me over until they come ’round Boston the next time.

You should really listen to this. If you want to keep it forever, go here. If you just want to stream it track by track, see below. Continue reading

Congrats, Boston Bruins

Congrats, Boston Bruins on a fantastic Stanley Cup Championship Game 7. A unbelievable playoff run that including three series’ going to a full seven games. Here’s to hoping we get off work to go to the parade on Friday.
